Sustainable development is an integral part of Maibec’s daily operations. Throughout the various product manufacturing stages, from the raw resources to the final product, Maibec integrates practices characterized by a constant concern for the environment. Visit Maibec.com to learn more about our commitment to environmental responsibility.
At Maibec, we place great importance on the responsible management of our materials. That’s why we partner with AIM Recycling, a recognized North American leader in metal recycling. Through this collaboration, our aluminum scrap is carefully collected and recycled, contributing to resource recovery and helping reduce our environmental footprint.
With state-of-the-art facilities and proven expertise, AIM Recycling transforms end-of-life metals into reusable raw materials. This partnership fully aligns with our commitment to sustainable practices and a more circular economy.
As a member of AluQuébec, we have joined the industry’s environmental transparency initiative. Our aluminum siding is covered by AluQuébec’s generic Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), ensuring complete transparency regarding their environmental performance.
This rigorous and recognized certification allows for obtaining LEED credits for construction projects, validating the sustainability of material choices, meeting environmental certification program requirements, and contributing to points in the “Materials and Resources” category (LEED v4 and v4.1).

Our aluminum products include a Health Product Declaration (HPD) that reveals their detailed composition and assesses health impacts. This transparency allows professionals to make informed choices and facilitates obtaining LEED credits, demonstrating our commitment to healthier building environments.
The declaration document is available upon request. Please contact us.
Our electrostatic powder coating process is part of an approach to reduce environmental impacts. Solvent-free, it emits no VOCs and uses no hexavalent chromium. Excess powder is recovered and reused, allowing for material efficiency rates of up to 99%.
Compared to liquid paint, this process generates less waste, reduces harmful emissions and requires fewer resources for waste treatment.
The process also includes closed-loop management of water used during surface preparation, thereby reducing potable water consumption and discharge. This technological choice contributes to more responsible production, without compromising coating performance.
"At Maibec, we are mindful of VOC emissions. The majority of our coatings are water-based and meet MELCC requirements for VOCs. We also conduct rigorous monitoring of our annual atmospheric emissions.
Our approach with powder coating aligns with this same environmental philosophy by completely eliminating VOCs from our finishing process for solid colours. This consistent approach demonstrates our commitment to responsible manufacturing practices."
"We have always reused all our products and by-products. We transform our cedar chips and bark into mulch, we convert our fir and spruce shavings into animal bedding, and when we had sawmills, all our by-products were sold to paper mills."
"By ensuring that our people in place have ESG in mind, we ensure that we reflect them in everything we do."
